In memoriam Wim van der Leegte
This weekend the sad news reached us that Wim van der Leegte, former top executive and owner of VDL, passed away unexpectedly in the night of Saturday to Sunday 19 November at the age of 76 in his hometown Duizel. For many years, Wim van der Leegte was a highly appreciated supporter of equestrian sport and of The Dutch Masters-Indoor Brabant in particular. In 2017, Van der Leegte was honoured in the Brabanthallen as Equestrian Sportsman of the Year 2016.
Wim van der Leegte's legacy extends far beyond the business world. As head of VDL Groep, he played a crucial role in the success and growth of equestrian sport in our country. His passion for and dedication to the sport of show jumping will be remembered with gratitude and admiration by all who knew him. A great lover of horses, he also had his own stud farm, Stoeterij 't Duyselshof, where his stable rider Leopold van Asten wields the sceptre
